Before you start

 
Eligibility:
 
To open a personal savings account you need to meet the following requirements:
 
  • A UK resident
  • Aged 18 or over
  • Applying for a personal savings account, not on behalf of a business
  • Depositing between £10,000 and £2 million per account
  • Have a UK registered mobile phone number
If you are already registered for online banking with us, please login to apply for your
new account.
 
If you are opening a joint account, you will need to enter both of your personal details.
As part of the application you will be able to set up your own personal online login
details only. We will contact applicant two directly to confirm how they can set up their
personal online login details.
 
If you are unable to complete an application online, or if you are looking to open an
account on behalf of someone else (e.g. via Power of Attorney) please contact our
Customer Services team on 020 3857 3050 to discuss available options.
 
Please note, our standard working hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Any requests made outside of these hours will not be processed until the next working day.
 
Your application:
 
For security purposes, your application will time out after 5 minutes of inactivity.
Please ensure you have your personal details including your nominated bank account
to hand. You will not be able to save your application and return at a later date.
During the application process we will check your identity and address match the details entered on the application form. In the majority of cases, we verify identity using automated technology (please note this is not a credit check).
 
You may be required to provide supporting documentation to confirm your identity or residency. If this is required, we will let you know at the end of the application and provide you with the details on next steps.
